Some of my favorite systems...are shite in actual playability. I *LOVE* the mechanical thinking and logic of them but mannnnn do they not play well at table unless you have the perfect group. Hacking in old school Shadowrun is one of these.... and Mage is another. I've run some amazing Mage games over the years but they were almost entirely solo things. I preferred the hedgemagic system from World of Darkness for anything other than solo Mage games.
My design dream is to make the definitive ars Magica hack.
